此绘本是湄公河流域当地儿童上学的真实写照。在湄公河三角洲的汛期，即使河水汹涌、泛滥成灾，小男孩安和其他人必须勇敢地迎接洪水上学。

当面临天堂雨和黑暗的千层沼泽的奥秘时，水中也潜伏着奇怪的危险，他们必须冒险踏上那条必经之路（也是求知之路）。

内容简介

 故事讲述了一个名叫An的小男孩第一次在没有爸妈的陪伴下，独自划着小船渡过湄公河三角洲(the Mekong Delta)最终抵达学校。旅程中遭遇过因洪水形成的滔天大浪，也在充满未知的神祕丛林中险遇毒蛇和鳄鱼...... An能克服一个人的孤单恐惧，成功抵达学校吗?

 这是一个关于成长的故事，在每个人的成长道路上，都会遇到挫折和恐惧等等，但这些都不重要，重要的是你勇敢的面对了困难，并且能够重新站起来继续拼搏！每一次的自我怀疑，都是成长的印记，更是岁月给我们最好的礼物！

  Vietnamese artists Phung Nguyen Quang and Huynh Kim Lien have published their first major work, The First Journey in Singapore after winning a major competition for Asian illustrators.  

  The book is the first the pair has produced through their company, Kaa Illustrations, which they founded in HCMC just three years ago after quitting their jobs and pursuing their passion.  

  What is your first book, ‘The First Journey’, about?  

  "The First Journey" is a story about a young boy called An who lives in South Vietnam. It tells the story of his first journey to school by himself during the Mekong Delta's floating season. Our inspiration comes from a story in "Huong Rung Ca Mau" by Son Nam. The story revolves around a son and his dying father who sail a little boat through the Mekong floods. It is such a powerful and beautiful story that we wanted to illustrate it in this book.  

  In late 2015, we entered the first draft and some colored pages into the Asian Scholastic Picture Book Award. The first draft won and we got a chance to work with Scholastic in Singapore to edit and complete it. After two years more work the book was published during the Asian Festival of Children's Content week in Singapore, and will soon be on sale in Southeast Asia. In Vietnam we worked with Kim Dong Publishing House and we expect it to be published in June or July.
